STEPS Family Resource Center is a newly formed organization committed to serving the community. STEPS believes that the importance of strong families and violence-free communities are paramount in our society; therefore, the agency’s mission reflects these values. STEPS recognizes that many barriers exist within society that inhibit the development of healthy violence-free individuals and families. STEPS is aware that community services play a significant role in identifying and addressing barriers. STEPS asserts that established community services are unable to cope with current demands for assistance; thus, it is the vision of STEPS to improve and enhance services in the area by identifying existing community needs and developing projects that address these issues. STEPS’ goal is to administer several projects. Each project will operate independently and have individual and unique objectives.
The mission of the STEPS Family Resource Center is to end violence and strengthen families in our community by offering Safety, Training, Education, Prevention programs, and Services to promote healthy violence free environment for abuse and neglected children, parents and individuals.

STEPS Family Resource Center started in February 2009. The STEPS program. began as a resource and training center for at-risk, low income families and individuals in the River Valley Area. Located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, STEPS wanted to provide missing services and improve current services desperately needed to support families and individuals. With court ordered visitations not available, STEPS began offering services to accommodate and from February 2010 until present has offered Supervised Visitation for victims of domestic violence including children in foster care and divorced/separated parents.
STEPS moved in 2011 into a 6,000sq foot building in down town Fort Smith to accommodate the growing need for more supervised visitation rooms.
Our number one fundraiser is the Purple Patch Thrift Store at 1224 Towson Avenue. 100% of the items in the store are donated and 100% of the funds go directly into the children’s program. Donations of clothing, household items, furniture and accessories are always welcome.
